Research Scholar: Chakradhar Aalla
Supervisor: Dr. Mohammad Shahid

Abstract: Through an inquiry regarding the process of reading, exploring the visual characteristics of text, and the typographic visual culture within which reading takes place - This research adopts a holistic approach to comprehending Telugu typeface legibility. This research examines the Telugu script in its context, cultural ties, anatomy, and in its numerous styles of writing methods. Building on a research base that encompasses design, language, and technology, this dissertation is concerned with the typographic features affecting the design and legibility of Telugu typefaces, and the complexity of word formation in Telugu script, which affect the reading. The research conducts a legibility analysis of selected Telugu typefaces using appropriate methods like eye-tracking and short exposure to evaluate digital medium performance. The study also aims to point out issues related to the practice of Telugu typeface design. This analysis is crucial to emphasise further the various technical and technological factors that affect type design and evaluate the fonts' usability.
